Kitchen Inspiration #1

After my husband and I renovated our kitchen I was itching to renovate it again because I have so many ideas! We are putting work into our home, but not choosing the best of the best as we hope to save the best for the dream home we build in the future! Since I can't keep renovating my kitchen and clients all have their own preferences I stayed up late one night creating two kitchen mood boards. I hope they inspire you, for they sure helped me get out some creative ideas that were keeping me awake.
Kitchen Trend-Green

This first mood board is designed around the most popular interior design color trend in 2021. You guessed it. The color is GREEN. Green started making its appearance into the home towards the end of 2020 as people longed to be back in the world. Since green represents the natural world and a luscious environment it is no surprise people desired to bring that feeling into the homes they've been quarantined in for about a year.
In This Kitchen
Dark green painted wood cabinets make up the kitchen. I went with simple, clean door fronts since the green color is bold, and I want the green color to be the star of the cabinet not the door's design.
White and taupe colored quartzite counter tops sit atop the cabinets. Quartzite is arguably a more luxurious natural stone than marble, and it is definitely more durable.
A natural looking subway backsplash tile in taupe lines the perimeter of the kitchen. I went with a more organic backsplash since green reminds me of the outside world, and one of the big interior design goals this year is to be more organic.
There is always room for a special accent tile, even among organic design. I chose a black and white mosaic tile that will be woven into the backsplash as an accent above the french range (Lacanche range)
White oak hardwood make up the kitchen floor. I love how they seamlessly blend in with all the other design elements.
Unlacquered brass pull handles for the hardware on the cabinets creates an authentic, richly aged look. A true sign of wealth is having antiques and unlacquered brass gives that look.
A Lacanche range sits as a center piece in the kitchen, a true piece of artwork.
Four neutral colors from Benjamin Moore's historical collection are painted on the walls and added through decor like vases, hand towels, and flowers.
Navy Kitchen-A Colorful Classic
People who want a colored kitchen (other than white, grey, and brown) often lean towards shades of blue, and in recent years navy blue has been a very popular kitchen color. You can still do it in your home today, and it is striking. If you love it, do it.

In This Kitchen
Crisp white cabinets line the perimeter of the kitchen.
Navy blue cabinets make up the kitchen island with decorative feet holding it up to make it look like a piece of furniture.
On top of the white cabinets along the perimeter is a beautiful white and taupe veined quartz countertop. Quartz is a popular man-made countertop material known to be super durable and resistant to staining.
On top the navy island cabinets is butcher block laid in a herringbone pattern, which coordinates with the backsplash on the perimeter of the kitchen.
I went bold with the backsplash tile, choosing a navy mosaic tile in a herringbone pattern.
The satin nickel pull goes on all the cabinet doors and drawers. I chose a curved pull handle to add a softness to the room as it contrasts the sharp lines that make up the herringbone patterns throughout the kitchen. Again, bringing in an organic element to the design with a natural, curved shape.
A beautiful hood over the stove acts as a piece of artwork in the room, matching the round back chairs in white and unlacquered brass that are the dinette chairs.
Kitchen's Concluded
I hope you gained some inspiration from these two kitchen designs. If you have additional questions about the materials I used and how to pull it together in your home, text me or DM me on IG at anytime. Let me know in the comments which kitchen design is your favorite.
Cheers, Brooke.
